Dian M. Grueneich – Commissioner at the California Public Utilities Commission
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Dian M. Grueneich to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) in January 2005. Commissioner Grueneich is a nationally recognized expert in energy and environmental issues, with over 30 years experience. At the CPUC, she focuses on transmission planning and permitting, energy efficiency, climate change, renewable energy resources, and low-income consumer issues.
She oversees the 3-year, $2.7 billion energy efficiency program of the California investor-owned utilities and provided leadership for the development of the California Long-Term Energy Efficiency Strategic Plan. She serves on the U.S. Department of Energy Smart Grid Advisory Committee, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Electricity Advisory Committee, the Transmission Expansion Planning Policy Committee of the Western Electricity Coordinating Council, the Leadership Council of the China-US Energy Efficiency Alliance, and the International CHP/DHC Collaborative sponsored by the International Energy Agency. She is a graduate of Stanford University and holds a J.D. from Georgetown University. .

Mark Duvall is the Director of Electric Transportation at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), an independent, non-profit center for public interest energy and environmental collaborative research. He is responsible for EPRI's research and development program for electric transportation, including electric, plug-in hybrid, and fuel cell vehicle programs and related advanced infrastructure. Prior to joining EPRI, Mark held the position of Principal Development Engineer at the Hybrid Electric Vehicle Center of the University of California, Davis. He holds B.S and M.S degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.
Saul Zambrano - Director, Integrated Demand Side Management Core Products, PG&E
Saul Zambrano is Director of Pacific PG&E’s Integrated Demand-side Management Core Products team. Saul’s team is responsible for developing new products within existing energy efficiency product categories such as lighting and appliances, electronics, HVAC, and energy management. In addition, Saul’s team is responsible for PG&E’s customer offerings in the emerging area of electric vehicles. Prior to joining PG&E, Mr. Zambrano was Director of the Global Finance Transformation Initiative for Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Director of WiMAX Solutions Commercial Marketing for Intel Corporation. Mr. Zambrano began his career as IT consultant and business development and finance professional with Nortel Networks, IBM Consulting, and JP Morgan. Mr. Zambrano received an MBA from Southern Methodist University and a BA in Economics from the University of Texas El Paso.
Marc Tarpenning - Entrepreneur, Co-founder, Tesla Motors, Inc. , Co-founder, NuvoMedia, Inc.
Marc Tarpenning started building and programming computers as a teenager and earned a B.A. degree in Computer Science from University of California, Berkeley. After graduating, he spent the next five years with Textron in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In 1997, he co-founding NuvoMedia with Martin Eberhard, which produced an innovative electronic book reader and the first secure content distribution system accepted by the publishing industry. Mr. Tarpenning was both VP of Engineering and CFO until that company’s sale to Gemstar/TV Guide in 2000 for $170M. In 2003, he reunited with Martin Eberhard and co-founded Tesla Motors, a company shaking up the automotive industry with the first production battery electric sports car, the Tesla Roadster. At Tesla Motors, Mr. Tarpenning ran the electrical engineering group in addition to being acting CFO for the first three years. Since leaving Tesla Motors in 2008, he has been Entrepreneur in Residence at Mayfield Fund, a leading Silicon Valley venture capital firm, and currently consults to the automotive industry as well as various startups. Mr. Tarpenning sits on several company Advisory Boards and is an elected School Board Trustee for the Woodside School District.
Dan Mosher - Chief Financial Officer, CODA Automotive
Dan Mosher is the Chief Financial Officer at CODA Automotive, an all-electric car and battery company headquartered in Santa Monica, California. The company plans to deliver an affordable electric car to the market in the fourth quarter of this year. Dan has helped CODA raise more than $100 million in private capital while helping to scale the company’s financial operations, technology infrastructure, human resources capability and business development activities. Dan served as SVP of Operations and Marketing at AdMarvel, a mobile advertising company recently sold to Opera Telecom. Prior to AdMarvel, Dan managed VeriSign’s mobile content services division in North America where he grew a new line of business to $100 million in revenue. Dan served on the Board of Directors at Intermix Media for six years where he oversaw the incubation and growth of MySpace from a social networking idea to a marketplace of more than 100-million members. The company was sold to News Corp for $650 million in September, 2005. Prior to joining VeriSign, Dan worked as the VP of Corporate Development for Webvan, where he led the company’s IPO and business development efforts. He began his career in Morgan Stanley’s Technology M&A practice. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science from the Haas Business School at University of California, Berkeley.
Marques McCammon, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Aptera
Marques McCammon joined Aptera in November 2008 with more than a decade’s experience in the automotive industry, including stints with Chrysler Corporation, American Specialty Cars (ASC) and, most recently, Saleen Performance Vehicles, Inc.
Throughout his automotive tenure, Marques has received several accolades. Amongst these honors, at just 24 years-old, he drew media attention as the "Father of the Neon SRT," the first vehicle to wear the badge of Chrysler’s new performance division. Five years later, Marques was recognized by Crain Communications as one of Detroit’s top 40 executives under the age of 40. He was also a Young Leaders Nominee for the Automobile Hall of Fame in 2005 and 2006.
A native of New York City, Marques received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from North Carolina A&T State University and University of Michigan, respectively. He and his wife live in Southern California with their two children (and have a third on the way).

Moderator - Lee Schipper, Professor at Stanford University
Dr. Shipper joined the Precourt Energy Efficiency Center at Stanford in September, 2008 to develop research and policy studies of efficient energy use in transport systems, and is also currently Senior Project Scientist at Global Metropolitan Studies, UC Berkeley. Previously, Lee had been Director of Research for EMBARQ, the World Resources Institute (WRI) Center for Sustainable Transport, which he helped found in April, 2002, and remains as Senior Associate Emeritus. Dr. Schipper has authored over 100 technical papers and a number of books on energy economics and transportation around the world. He takes part in numerous prestigious international panels and studies on energy and transportation, and is on the editorial boards of five major journals in the fields. Dr. Schipper earned his Ph.D. at Berkeley in astrophysics, but has devoted his career to earthly problems of transport, energy and environment.
Ann Bordetsky - North America Market Development, Better Place
Ann leads Better Place North America efforts in Federal and California policy, government affairs, and strategy. Prior to joining Better Place, Ann worked in federal policy and advocacy for the Natural Resources Defense Council in Washington, D.C., where she focused on energy security and climate policy for the transportation sector. Bob Hayden -EV Program Manager and Clean Vehicle Advisor, Department of the Environment, City and County of San Francisco
As San Francisco’s EV Program Manager, Mr. Hayden is the staff lead in charge of the city’s electric transportation initiatives. Working directly with the Mayor’s office and the City Administrator, he coordinates and directs the work of the interdepartmental task force implementing Mayor Newsom’s policy to make San Francisco and the Bay Area the nation’s top electric vehicle market. In this role he has also been a leader in establishing the Bay Area EV Corridor Project, and co-chairs the operating committees that guide the regional program.
His experience with electric and other advanced vehicle and energy technologies spans three decades in Washington, DC, and California. Mr. Hayden is a former executive director of the Electric Vehicle Association of the Americas (now named Electric Drive Transportation Association, or EDTA), the national industry association of automakers, electric utilities, battery and technology companies. In that capacity he participated in the development of industry consensus standards for EV charging through the EV Infrastructure Working Council, and managed a national program to assist cities in becoming EV-ready.
As a consultant he has assisted numerous advanced-technology organizations, including the National Hydrogen Association, California Fuel Cell Partnership, and Michelin Corporation’s international green vehicle competition, the Challenge Bibendum. Mr. Hayden has also served as executive director of the Renewable Energy Institute in Washington, DC, and was Secretary of Delegation for the United States Delegation to the first-ever UN Conference on Renewable Energy
