Will Coleman: Partner, Mohr Davidow Ventures
Will Coleman brings a background in energy-related technology, development, and policy to the MDV team. He focuses on cleantech investments. In addition to investing, Will supports MDV portfolio companies.
Prior to MDV, Will worked in Washington, DC as an advisor to private equity and project finance clients focusing on the energy sector. Will also worked as the legislative director for the New Fuels Alliance (Formerly the Renewable Energy Action Project) where he built state and federal level coalitions to support renewable energy legislation. In 2004, Will was invited to sit on the California Energy Commission's Biofuels Working Groups to formulate strategies for reducing California's dependence on petroleum. Will has also worked for GE Wind in the commercial operations group, Xseed Capital, and on a variety of renewable energy projects in China, West Africa, and India.
Will is on the Venture Fund Advisory Board for the ASE, which operates the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and is on the advisory committee for the California Energy Commission's Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program, an $840m fund to stimulate deployment of low carbon transportation technologies. Will has also served on the advisory committee for the Western Governors' Association.
Will has an MBA and an MS in Energy & Resources from the University of California, Berkeley. While at Berkeley Will founded the Berkeley Energy & Resources Collaborative (BERC) and the new Center for Energy & Environmental Innovation (CEEI). Will also earned an AB magna cum laude in Social Studies from Harvard University.
Sanjay Wagle: Renewable Energy Grants Advisor, U.S. Department of Energy
Sanjay brings six years of experience in private equity and project finance, with a focus on the clean technologies sector, including renewable energy, clean water, transportation and materials. Prior to the US Department of Energy, Sanjay worked for four years as Principal at VantagePoint. Prior to VantagePoint he served as a Principal and member of the founding team of Expansion Capital Partners, a venture capital firm focused on investing in clean technologies. Sanjay previously served as an Associate and Assistant to the Chairman of Blum Capital Partners, and as an Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation, a unit of the World Bank where he focused on leading and structuring project financing for private sector infrastructure projects in the power, transport and water sectors. Sanjay attended Harvard University (BA) and the Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley (MBA).
Matthew Price: Senior Associate, Nth Power
Matt Price joined Nth Power in 2007 where his primary focus is on deal origination, due diligence, and deal structuring. Matt looks at a broad range of investment areas including materials and nanotechnology, fuel cells, batteries, biofuels, advanced lighting, and smart grid technologies. Mr. Price sits on the board of OptoElectronix and is an observer on the board of Propel Biofuels.
Prior to joining Nth Power, Matt was a materials engineer and business development manager for Franklin Fuel Cells. During this time Matt built and ran the company’s fuel cell testing capabilities and helped the company raise over $4.5 million in venture funding and government grants.
Matt received his MBA from the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley, with a focus on energy markets. During his graduate studies Matt co-founded the Berkeley Energy Resource Collaborative (BERC) and consulted for several alternative energy companies. Matt also worked for Bloom Energy as a product manager while receiving his graduate degree. Matt received his BS in materials science and engineering from Northwestern University and earned an honors degree for his research on solid oxide fuel cells.
